Itinerary of the tour from Tangier
Day 1: Tangier - Chefchaouen
The 5 days trip from Tangier to the desert, starts with our guide meeting you at the port or airport of Tangier at the scheduled time, and then we will start the journey to Chefchaouen, or Chaouen, as it is also known, which is located in the only intercontinental natural park that has been designated a natural reserve of the biosphere. It is a white and blue village nestled in a mountain, inhabited by wise, kind and polite people, offering visitors beautiful urban views, priceless examples of local craftsmanship and a tranquility and serenity hard to find nowadays. Overnight in Riad.
Day 2: Chechaouen - Fez
The vibrant culture of Chefchaouen is left behind as we head to Fez, the first of the imperial cities and proud home to one of the oldest universities in the world. On the way we stop at the well-preserved Roman remains of Volubilis. As we walk the ramparts and gates of the medina or simply enjoy welcome tea from the Riad’s terrace, we can take in a panoramic view of Moulay Idriss, the holy city, before arriving in Fez in the late afternoon. Riad for the night.
Day 3: fez - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga - Desert
We begin our guided tour of the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, after a sumptuous breakfast at the riad. We will be transported back in time through its winding streets, organized by local guides. We will see that this is a medieval city and that the clock has run out. We will pass through Ifrane, also known as “The Switzerland of Morocco”, not far from Fez, before reaching the cedars of the Middle Atlas. The Atlas Mountains are about to begin. As we move deeper into the Great South, a surprising transformation of the landscape awaits us. As the soil dries out, it develops deep valleys and amazing geological structures, such as the huge green areas found in the center of the desert, like the Ziz valley.
We are already on the threshold of the desert when we begin to see mud buildings, palm trees and some distant kasbahs. When we reach the spectacular dunes of Merzouga, we will ride a camel into the heart of the dunes and enjoy a wonderful sunset. The camels will take us to the Haimas camp, where we will spend the night.
Day 4: Desert - Rissani - Toudra Gorges - Dades Gorges
After a delicious breakfast, we say goodbye to the desert and leave for Rissani, where we will visit its market. We will follow the road to the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Later we will arrive at one of the great rocks of the tougha. The Todra riverbed has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and great beauty, is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. Lunch on site and a half hour walk would be recommended to see and enjoy in detail the Gorges. In the afternoon we will continue to the Dades Gorges where we will have our overnight.
Day 5: Dades Gorges - Marrakech
After breakfast, we will contemplate one of the most outstanding views of the Dades Valley. We will do it from one of the most advantageous places in the mountains. From there, we can see the number of kasbahs and the charm of each of them. We will arrive at the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, after making many stops to contemplate the landscape, the Valley of Roses and the huge palm grove of Skoura. Here movies such as Gladiator, Sahara and The Jewel of the Nile were filmed. After the visit, we will head to Marrakech via the mountain pass of Tizi’N Tichka, making photo stops along the way. Here, the lunar landscape will be left behind and will be replaced by the predominant shades of green, ocher, etc.. Arrival in Marrakech Transfer to the designated place. End of our services.
