What to see in Morocco travel itinerary 5 days?
Explore the blue pearl of Morocco
Chefchaouen, often called the Blue City, is a popular tourist destination in Morocco. The city is known for its blue painted walls and buildings, which contribute to the picturesque character of the city. Chefchaouen is located in the Rif Mountains and is a popular stop for those traveling to Tangier and Fez. The city is home to several markets and mosques, as well as a Jewish quarter.
Discover the ancient city of Morocco
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Fez is still organized in a traditional way. The spiritual capital of Morocco invites its visitors to come and discover all the historical vestiges of the city while respecting some rules of behavior. Among the most beautiful museums to visit is the Nejjarine Museum, an 18th century caravanserai that was later transformed into a wooden museum. Continue to the Dar Batha Museum, a former royal palace that is now the Museum of Moroccan Arts.
Visit of Volubilis
The ruins of Volubilis are located about 30 km northwest of Meknes (Morocco). These remains have remained untouched by contemporary urbanization and were excavated in the 1920s. Today, of the 40 hectares of the site, it is estimated that half of the space is still open to archaeologists’ desires. This website, originally designed for educational purposes, is an adaptation of a discovery guide published in 2002. It attempts to present in a simple and, if possible, attractive way, the state of our current knowledge about this ancient city with an almost millennia-long history. Enjoy your visit.
Visit the city of Meknes
Meknes, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco, of which it was the capital for a long period. Meknes includes a new city and an old city separated by the Oued Boufekrane. The Alaouite sultan Moulay Ismaïl had a profound impact on the city in the late 17th century, building sumptuous palaces, mosques, monumental gates, vast gardens, etc. Meknes is imbued with a particular charm that runs from its historic districts to its terraces.
