Itinerary of the 4 days tour from Marrakech to the desert

Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzzate - Dades Gorges

The first day of the 4 days tour, leaving Marrakech at 8 am, we head towards the Dades Gorges in the High Atlas, we will cross the Tizi Nishka pass (2260m high), you will see Berber villages and farms on the mountainside. We will arrive in Ouarzazate, the film capital of Morocco, after lunch in this city and a visit to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, this impressive fortified is registered as the heritage of humanity by UNISCO, and is one of the most famous kasbahs of the Moroccan kingdom.

Then, by the road Ksar Mill – Kasbah, you will follow a path where you will have the opportunity to appreciate the peace of the mountains inhabited by nomads, and discover a new sense of everyday life. Before arriving in the Dades Gorges and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Dades Gorges - Todra Gorges - Merzouga Desert

After a delicious breakfast in Dades Gorge, we will cross the wonderful landscape of Boumalne Dades to Todra Gorge. Not far from the town of Tinghir, the gorges are the best in Morocco. We will have enough time to walk on the giant rock face and the stream. You will be able to share tracks with the locals and take some of your best pictures. Then we pass through the town of Tinghir and pass through the land of Tafilalet, famous for its dryness and oasis. In the afternoon we head to the Sahara desert.

In Merzouga, we will head to the edge of the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, where camels await us to experience an unforgettable camel trek. As we ride the camels through the sand dunes, we will enjoy the view of the desert, especially when we stop in the dunes to watch the enchanting sunset over the desert. Upon arrival at the campsite, the owners will give you a warm welcome and show you their well-equipped Bedouin tents. A dinner accompanied by Berber drum music will be served to make your stay unforgettable. At the camp, you should also not miss the wonderful views of the stars as they twinkle in the sky.

Day 3: Merzouga - Discover the Erg-Chibbi Desert

Awakened for a tasty breakfast in the desert, today will be spent exploring the hidden secrets of the Sahara Desert through an incredible adventure. Embarked in a 4×4 vehicle, we will start the journey driving through the dunes to cross to the other side of Erg-Chebbi, where the sand dunes end and the Hamada, rocky desert begins. In the same area, nomadic families settle in their traditional tents. Obviously, we will visit them in their tents and have a break with them to discover how they manage to survive in these places along with their livestock.

Continuing through the Hamada, we will visit the old abandoned French village of M’Fis. It is a former territory of the French army used to control the place and exploit the different mines in the area. Not far from the village, we will climb a mountain to contemplate a magnificent view. Above the mountain, you can see; the distant mountains that indicate the Algerian borders, have a clear view on the transmission of the dunes and the
clear view on the transmission of the dunes of Erg-Chebbi to the Hamada, see the old road of the Dakar Rally through the desert valley.

We then descend the mountain and return to the main road where we have a visit to the village of Khamlia. The local inhabitants of the village are originally from sub-Saharan countries, who today serve the legacy of their ancestors presented in Gnaoua music. With a cup of mint tea, you will enjoy the melodies of Africa, after lunch, you can relax at the hotel and prepare for the second night in the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga - Rissani - Ziz Gorges - Midelt - Azrou - Ifrane - fez


On the fourth day of the tour, we will leave the desert of Merzouga and start our journey to Fez. First, we will visit the city of Rissani and its market, which is the heart of the Tafilalet region, then we will stop at the Ziz Strait near Errachidia. The valley is quite green and offers great possibilities to enjoy the panoramic view of the palm trees. It is also the main producer of dates in the country. In addition, we will pass through the city of Errachidia and start a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, at the top of the Tizi-Ntalegmet pass we will stop for a panoramic view of the mountains and other remote villages. Descending from the mountains we will stop in Midelt for lunch and relax.

The city of Midelt is famous for being the first place of apple production. After leaving Midelt, we will start crossing the Middle Atlas, known for its green and humid landscapes. The cedar forest of Azrou will be our next stop, as we will stop to see the cedar forest and the barbarian gibbons that live and play along the roads. A 30 minute drive will take us to the town of Ifrane. The city is famous for its alpine architecture which makes it one of the best cities in Morocco. Our stop in Ifrane will include a stop by the carved statue of the lion. We then leave Ifrane and cross Imouzzer Kandar to Fez. The 3 day tour ends with drop off at your accommodation.
