Morocco itinerary one week

Day 1: Transfer from the airport - City Tour

Reception at Fez airport. Then departure to visit Fez accompanied by a tour guide. Fez is the oldest of the imperial cities, founded in 790 by Moulay Idriss II. Fez quickly became the main religious center of Morocco. Visit the Medina of medieval times, the Mederse (ancient Islamic religious universities) Bounanaia and Attarine, the Karaouine Mosque and the famous Neijarine fountain. We continue with a visit to the souks, one of the most beautiful and lively markets in Morocco. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

Day 2: Fez - Ifrane - Midelt

After breakfast, departure to Meknes. Guided tour of a couple of hours in Meknes. Meknes is an Ismaili capital, famous for its 40 km of ramparts, the Bab Mansour gate, the royal palaces and the Jewish quarter. Guided tour of the city and the medina, then departure to the Atlas Mountains with its cedar forests. Arrival in Midelt, dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 3: Midelt - Merzouga - Desert

After breakfast, departure to Erfoud and Merzouga via Errachidia and the Ziz valley, full of palm trees. In Erfoud, visit a fossil factory, of which the area is rich. In Merzouga we will depart with camels and a guide for a camel trek through the dunes of Erg Chebbi for an hour and a half to two hours to reach a Berber-style tented camp in the desert. Here we will spend a beautiful New Year’s Eve evening with the music of Berber drums in front of a bonfire. Dinner and overnight in the tented camp under a million stars.

Day 4: Merzouga - Discover the Desert

After admiring the first sunrise of the new year in the dunes, we will return by camel to a hotel in Merzouga for breakfast and shower. The day will then be devoted to discover the Merzouga region: the area where the natural fossils of the desert are found, the village of Tissrdmin, where many films have been shot, the black desert with its volcanic rocks, and a visit to a nomad family. Then we will visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its black African inhabitants and their music. Back in Merzouga, you will enjoy dinner and the tranquility of the desert at your hotel.

Day 5: Desert - Rissani - Toudra Gorges - Dades Gorges

After breakfast, depart to Rissani, where you will visit the lively market and continue to the amazing Todra Gorges. In the afternoon arrival in the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

day 6: Dades Gorges - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazat - Marrakech

After breakfast, departure to Ouarzazate through the Tizi n’Tichka pass and the spectacular landscapes of the Atlas. Arrival and visit of the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddhou and continuation on the road leading to the Tizi n’Tichka to enter the valley of Marrakech. Continuation to Marrakech, arrival in the afternoon. Free dinner and overnight in a riad.

day 7: Marrakech - Guided tour of the city

Breakfast at the riad and departure for a guided tour of the city, nicknamed “The Pearl of the South”, founded in the 12th century by the Almoravid dynasty. The founders of Morocco left remarkable palaces and gardens. Visit the Saadian tombs, the Koutoubia gardens and the Bahia Palace. Then visit the souk and stroll through the narrow streets of the city, where the scenery is fascinating. Finally, visit the famous Djemaa El Fna square, where the show is permanent: snake charmers, fire-eaters and artists of all kinds. Free dinner and overnight in a riad.

day 8: Marrakech - Transfer to the airport

Fez Morocco
